FYI! I just lowered the prices on all my patterns! Now all are only 3$! I am going to be posting some new free patterns too. I just need to test knit them one more time and get the documents all stored in their forever Adobe cloud home!

I NEED People

This is why I need people. I can’t make and social media. It’s just that simple. I finally jumped on Ravelry this morning to update my pattern section and am trying to get all my documents in one final resting place and that took the majority of the early morning.
While on Ravelry, I happened to look over to the right of my profile page and saw a link to my BLOG?! Ugh, and double ugh. So, to date, I have Ravelry, Facebook, Instagram, Patreon AND a blog. Oh and we can’t forget my Etsy AND my Square shop. It’s too much to wrap my brain around. I need to create a schedule, but those of you that know me, know that a schedule is laughable. This ole cat is laughing her ass right off at the idea of actually having a schedule. I mean I start them, ALL THE TIME, and maybe they even last a few days, or maybe a week, but not ever much longer than that.
I used to be real good at talking about myself, and what I was doing. I was a pro at selfies and self promotion. Now, at 50, it’s not so easy. I don’t have the confidence or the energy it requires to SELL myself. This is one of the reasons I need people. I need a person to package me and sell what I do because I don’t have the, 1.) time or the 2.) energy to do it.
I have a blessed life right now. The hubs got an amazing new job and we moved to Columbus last month, and it got me out of college. The “College not College” blog got a reply in a need to withdraw from classes in order to move. And now that I have dropped that ball (again) I am seeing how pointless it all was. I don’t need a degree to do what I want to do. I have always known what I want to do, and it’s this, it’s yarn, and fiber and spinning and dyeing. I have to tell you, I have the BEST husband in the entire universe. He has told me to “just keep doing what I am doing”. Which is, working remotely for Inspection Tech (Mon-Fri 2-8pm) and basically making stuff all. day. long. Really? Who gets to have this life? So really, I have no excuses this time, to not have a schedule and to not make this dream a reality. So this blog will be the beginning of yet another new beginning.

College!!! Not collage!

So I’m sitting here at Tri-C, preparing for my second day of classes. Yesterday I had Psychology and PRE-Algebra. Yes, PRE Algebra. My 12 year old is taking more advanced classes than I am! So basically I am taking the last few courses that I missed when I dropped out of college back in 1991. I had 52 hours transfer her and only need 60 for an Associates. So Associates of Art first then I will go to Baldwin Wallace to get my BFA in Arts Management & Entrepeneurship with a minor in Art Education.

I feel so completely blessed to be in this exact moment in time. I have such an amazing family, job and support system. Those people who love me and have always known who I was even when I didn’t. I could have never begun this journey without all of them and I have to remember when I am down the road, stressing about exams, study time, or lack thereof, and home-work balance. I need to call on the Lord and remember to give absolute thanks for the fact that I am able to do this and see my dreams hopefully come to life.

School?!

I cannot believe it but I will officially be starting, or should I say, RE-starting my college education on MONDAY! I was a freshman in 1988 and never thought I would see my dream of completing my higher education realized.

I feel like the luckiest girl in the world between this opportunity, my amazing husband and son, my job and my ablitliy to be still knitting and pushing those dreams onward and upward.

To date I have sold THREE patterns on Ravelry! I really went into posting my patterns with NO expectations. I even gave a couple of them away for free, figuring that it would help get my name out there. When the first sale posted I was so surprised I could barely breathe! I hadn’t even had that particular pattern listed for more than a few hours!

I am excited about school but also sad to know that my life will once again fill up with real life and I am preparing myself for not having much time to dedicate to creating, at least initially.

I have a show Polar Fest January 25th & 26th. I plan on having my spinning wheel there and also a table set up to teach some crochet and knitting for free. It’s my last show of the season and I am hoping to go out with a bang.

First Pattern SOLD!

I’m so excited to announce that I have sold a pattern on Ravelry! And not just any pattern but my cabled cowl pattern that had only been listed for a few hours! I have been busy test knitting and finalizing all these patterns while working on custom orders and also prepping for Polar Fest on January 25th & 26th. So busy but so blessed that between my job and home life the balance has been 100% on point and I am getting so much done! School starts in less than 2 weeks and while I am super excited about that I am a little nervous too! Here are some pics of the patterns I have posted since last time

Staghorn Texting Mitts

This cold weather just gets my creative energy flowing. I have been really trying to tie all of my social media together and make Laughing Cat Fibers the cohesive business that I dream of it being one day. These mitts came to life back in 2016 and I am so proud to be revealing them now. I started creating my own designs back in 2010 and never had the belief in myself to really post them out in the world. I mean, I made them, I sold them, people loved them, but somehow I just always put posting the patterns on the back burner. I hope that you love these as much as I do. The pattern is available for sale on Ravelry.

Introducing Laughing Cat Fibers!

Hello All! I have not used this blog in a very long time. Now as I am becoming ever more determined to get my patterns published and turn my fiber fetish into a honest living I am using this blog as a sounding board to post patterns that I can hopefully then share to Ravelry. I have no CLUE how to do this and am trying to get my social media presence more specific but it is so hard when my hands are my tools of creation, I find it very difficult to dedicate the time needed to the whole social media THING.
I am going to keep this post short as it is really a test to see if I can get a pattern up here with a link
